Deep Brain Stimulation: A New Treatment for Drug-Resistant Focal Epilepsy

Deep brain stimulation of the anterior nucleus of the thalamus was recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of drug-resistant focal epilepsy. In this talk, Dr. Friedman will review the results of clinical studies looking at the safety and efficacy of this treatment. He will discuss who  is appropriate for this therapy and how deep brain stimulation fits in with other surgical and medical treatments that are currently available.
